Managing compensatory time off effectively is essential for maintaining accurate leave balances and fair HR practices. HRStop lets you customize how comp-offs are managed, particularly whether expired comp-offs are based on the approval date rather than the application date. Here's how to configure it:

Step-by-step guide

1. Access the Control Panel

Log in to your admin account and navigate to the Control Panel. You can typically find it through the Settings menu in your dashboard.

2. Go to the Leaves section

Within the Control Panel, click Settings, then select Leaves from the dropdown list.

3. Open the Leave Credit Requests / Comp Offs subsection

Scroll down or navigate through the options until you locate the Leave Credit Requests / Comp Offs subsection. This is where you control how compensatory time off is credited, approved, and expired.

4. Enable comp-off expiry based on approval date

Look for the setting titled “Make expired comp-off based on approval date”
Enable this option to ensure that expired comp-offs are calculated using the date they were approved, rather than when they were originally applied.

5. Save your changes

Click Update or Save to apply your changes. This action updates the leave policy configuration system-wide.

Why this matters

Enabling this setting helps organizations:

  • Ensure fair expiration timelines for comp-offs
  • Prevent confusion around when leave becomes invalid
  • Stay consistent with approval-driven workflows

By aligning your system with your organization's policies, you create a more transparent and efficient leave management experience for both HR and employees.
