1. When there is a delay in the payment of the ECR Challan, the EPFO issues a penalty payment notice. In such cases, you need to prepare a Direct Challan for the following:

  2. Penalty Damage (14B)

This will address the penalties and interest charges as per the EPFO notice.

2. After making the payment for Interest (7Q) and Penalty Damage (14B) via the Direct Challan, you will receive a payment receipt.

You are required to submit this Payment Receipt along with the Penalty Notice Form to the relevant authorities.

3. You are required to create a letter on your company letterhead stating that the payment of the penalty has been made online.

In the letter, include the following:

  • A statement confirming the penalty payment.
  • A copy or reference of the payment receipt.
  • A copy of the penalty notice form as proof.

Request the concerned authority to remove the penalty based on the provided documents.

4. You must reply to the penalty letter within 15 days.
