Brief of Form 16
Meaning: Form 16 is a TDS certificate issued by the employer on behalf of employees. It contains details of the employee's payments and deductions made in a financial year under their employment.
Why is Form 16 generated?
Ans. It is proof that the employer has paid the TDS deducted from the employee's salary to the Income Tax Department on the employee's behalf.
Parts:
There are two parts of Form 16:
1. Part A
2. Part B
1. Part A: This part shows the details of the employer, such as:
a. Name and address of the employer
b. TAN of the employer
c. PAN of the employer
d. Summary of tax deducted and deposited quarterly
e. It is generated from the TRACES ID.
2. Part B: This part shows the salary details of the employee:
a. Salary breakup of the employee
b. Deductions approved under Chapter VI
