Understanding LOP or Half-Day Status Despite Full-Day Work

Jun 21, 2024

Sometimes, an employee’s attendance may show as LOP (Loss of Pay) or Half-Day even though they worked the full day. This typically happens due to system configurations and how attendance data is received and processed.

Why This Happens

HRStop calculates attendance in real time based on rules defined by the admin. These rules use data from various sources like:

  • Biometric devices
  • Web or mobile attendance
  • Manual regularizations

Here are some common reasons why a full day of work may still result in LOP or Half-Day status:

  • The biometric device failed to send attendance data
  • Data from the device was delayed
  • The employee forgot to punch in or out
  • The punch was incomplete or missed

In such cases, the attendance status is auto-processed before the actual data is received. Once the delayed data arrives, it enters a processing queue. Based on the queue size, updates may take 1 second to 2 days to reflect.

How to Manually Recalculate Attendance

If immediate updates are required, HRStop allows authorized admins to trigger manual recalculation of attendance, bypassing the queue.

Steps to Recalculate Attendance:

  1. Go to Control Panel
  2. Navigate to Attendance (from the left menu)
  3. Click the dropdown icon next to the Import button (top right)
  4. Select Calculate to open the recalculation page

On the Recalculation Page:

  • Attendance Period: Choose the time period to recalculate
  • Recalculate Manually Adjusted Attendance: Tick to include admin-updated records
  • Recalculate Already Processed Attendance: Tick to update previously calculated records
  • Calculate LOP: Tick to update Loss of Pay based on new data
  • Deduct Leaves: Tick if leave deductions apply
  • Select Employees: Choose by Department, Designation, or individual employees
  • Click Calculate to apply updates

Final Note

This process ensures that attendance records are corrected based on the latest available data. It’s especially helpful when data was missing or delayed during the initial calculation.
