Appraisal Settings

The Appraisal Settings page allows payroll administrators to configure the behaviour of the Appraisals module in HRStop. These settings control how appraisals are triggered, how arrears are consolidated, and how arrear amounts are treated for income tax computation.

Appraisal Settings
Setting Description Impact
Enable date-based appraisal triggering (default: monthly) When enabled, appraisals can be triggered effective from a specific date within a month. When disabled, appraisals are triggered effective from the start of the selected month. Controls whether the Effective Date field on the Trigger Appraisal form accepts a specific date or a month.
Consolidate all appraisal arrears as a single component When enabled, this will be the default setting for all arrear calculations. Instead of creating separate line items for each salary component, the system will create a single consolidated arrear line item in the payroll and payslip. For example, if Basic arrear is ₹5,000 and HRA arrear is ₹2,000, the payslip will show one line: Consolidated Arrear ₹7,000 instead of two separate lines. Controls how arrear amounts appear in payroll and payslips. This setting acts as the default for all arrear calculations and can be overridden during individual arrear calculation.
Include unpaid appraisal arrears in income tax computation When enabled, the total appraisal arrear amount will be included in income tax computation even if the arrears are being disbursed in installments over multiple payroll cycles. This allows tax to be deducted upfront on the full arrear amount before it has been completely paid out to the employee. Controls whether income tax is deducted on the full arrear amount upfront or only on the portion that has been disbursed.
