On duty: overview
On this page
On Duty (OD) Leave is used when an employee is away from the office for official purposes—such as attending a client meeting, training, or off-site task—during regular working hours. Instead of marking a casual or paid leave, the employee applies for On Duty to indicate presence at an alternate official location.
Employees can submit their On Duty leave requests directly through the system. These requests are then routed to the reporting manager or admin for review and approval. Once approved, the request status is updated as Approved in the employee’s Main Panel.
Enabling the On Duty module
To allow employees and admins to access and use the On Duty feature, the module must be enabled in the system settings.

Enable On Duty Leave Module - Click Update to save the changes.
Once enabled:
- The On Duty tab appears in the Apply Leave section of the employee’s Self-Service Portal. Both employees and admins can raise, manage, and approve On Duty requests as per their roles.

Frequently asked questions
Can I apply for an on duty punch for the whole day?
No, you cannot apply for an on duty punch for the whole day. An *On duty* punch is applied when you are unavailable for a certain period within office hours. If you are unavailable for the entire day, apply for "On duty" leave instead.
Why is my on duty leave not reflecting in my attendance?
If it does not appear in your attendance, your reporting manager has not approved it yet. It appears only after your reporting manager approves it.
I applied on duty for my employee, but it shows "L" in attendance. How do I check the type of leave?
In the attendance module, hover over the "L" entry to see the type of leave applied.
How do I get an email each time an employee requests 'on duty'?
To get an email notification each time an employee requests 'on duty':
Navigate to Settings → Notification and go to the On Duty Requested option under the Leaves section. Select the recipients you want to send the email to. You can also enter another email address to which notification emails are sent.
